Why are ordinary shares treated as Excluded Investment Products (EIPs) rather than Specified Investment Products?
Ordinary shares are relatively simple and familiar to retail investors, so as EIPs they do not by themselves require a Customer Knowledge Assessment; suitability and disclosure obligations still apply.
Thinking EIP status removes all obligations or implies a capital guarantee.
