Chandra turns 55 in 2024, when the Full Retirement Sum (FRS) is S$205,800. At that point he has S$150,000 in his Special Account (SA) and S$120,000 in his Ordinary Account (OA). After his Retirement Account is set up at the FRS, how much remains in his OA?
At 55 the RA is filled from SA savings first, then OA, up to the FRS. His SA S$150,000 all moves in, leaving S$205,800 - S$150,000 = S$55,800 to be drawn from the OA. OA remaining = S$120,000 - S$55,800 = S$64,200 (SA is now S$0).
Drawing the FRS from the OA first would leave the SA untouched and the wrong OA balance — the order is SA before OA.
